Vtesse Deploys Tellabs To Expand UK National Private Fiber Optic Network

June 15, 2011 - High Wycombe, UK - Vtesse, a leading provider of advanced national fiber optic networking services in the United Kingdom, has selected Tellabs as a key provider of optical equipment for its national network. Vtesse is deploying the Tellabs 7100 Nano Optical Transport System to support the expansion of its metro network in the UK, as it demonstrates its commitment to serve major financial institutions and a growing enterprise and carrier customer base.

Vtesse is deploying the fully scalable Tellabs 7100 Nano OTS to deliver high performance 10G services to Vtesse's customers. The Tellabs multi-degree ROADM based network features 88 channels, enabling Vtesse to rapidly provision bandwidth for new and existing customers.

"Vtesse's ability to provide service and add capacity quickly and cost-effectively is essential to our customers, who expect us to meet their changing data communications needs in hours, not weeks" says Aidan Paul, Chief Executive of Vtesse. "Since we incorporated Tellabs' equipment into our network, we've been able to win and deliver network contracts that would have been significantly more challenging using less flexible technology."
Vtesse will also benefit from the Tellabs Enterprise Partnership Program, a sales support and training package, which helps service provider's position their enhanced network capabilities more effectively to existing and potential enterprise customers.

"Enterprises are increasingly demanding reliable, high-bandwidth network services, and need a provider that can give them connectivity quickly and at competitive pricing," said Tarcisio Ribeiro, vice president and general manager, Europe, Middle East and Africa, Tellabs. "Not every enterprise needs or wants to deploy multiple channels and have international connectivity from day one. It is essential that our operator customers can offer scalable services that start small, and quickly deliver the necessary bandwidth when needed by major enterprises like the financial institutions."

According to data from Tellabs customers, a Tellabs 7100 Nano OTS-based solution can reduce capital expenditure by up to 65 percent and operating expenditure by as much as 85 percent.
